Pothys Swarna Mahal, Tamil Nadu's Leading Jewellery brand in a testament to its unwavering commitment to artistry and innovation, is proud to announce its second consecutive winner of National Award "Bridal Gold Jewellery of the year 2023, awarded by the Gem and Jewellery Council of India. This prestigious award is considered as "Oscars of Indian Jewellery Industry".

Gem and Jewellery Council of India is a prestigious body constituted for promoting jewellery business in India where all leading jewellers are the members. Every year it gives awards for the best design developed by its members. Hundreds of jewellers participate presenting their new design vying for the award instituted by it.

Inspired by the UNESCO world heritage site, the majestic 13th century Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. Our national award jewellery pays homage to Surya the Sun God, is the foremost of the Navagrahas, the nine planets of Hindu astrology. According to Vedic tradition, Surya, who is the king of all 9 planets, Sun, Moon ,Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the two nodes of Moon, Rahu and Ketu. The seven names of the week are derived from these nine planets.

The design emphasis on Surya rising in the east and traversing the sky in a chariot drawn by seven magnificent horses, brings forth the vibrant hues of the sun- violet, indigo, green, blue, yellow, orange, and red. These seven steeds, named Gayatri, Brihati, Ushnih, Jagati, Trishtubha, Anushtubhi, and Pankti, gracefully lead the chariot, guided by the charioteer Aruna.

The sun, symbolizing unmatched power, controls and navigates, the dance of all eight planets, maintaining cosmic equilibrium. Each of these planets, known for their significance, exerts influence over astrology, human life, success and all- round prosperity, shaping destinies with their unique energies.

With profound reverence, we have encapsulated the essence of Surya and his cosmic dance of planets in Antique gold and Navaratna, a cluster of auspicious nine gemstones, representing the energies of nine astrological planets, says Mr.Ashok Pothy, Director of Pothys Swarna Mahal who did an extensive research in creating this masterpiece.

We are humbled that his tireless work for months together has been aptly rewarded by the prestigious GJEPC, jewellery promotion body of our nation, concluded Mr. Ramesh Pothy.

This captivating award winning piece of jewellery weighs around 1kg in gold, inbuilt with battery lights to highlight each planet. The craftsmanship took 182 days and 3650 hours of skilled labour to complete.The design can also be customised in 350 grams onwards.
